Is Picture the Cure a charity?
Picture the Cure is in the process of acquiring charity status. The result of our application will be communicated as soon as it is known.
In the meantime, PTC will continue operating as a non-profit community association.
Once the charity status is acquired, we shall be able to issue our own tax receipts.
Right now, only third party charities that we support are able to issue tax receipts for direct monetary donations. We cannot issue tax receipts for any purchased items because it is against the law to reward goods sales with tax receipts. Please read the following paragraph to better have an understanding of the rules and regulations concerning tax receipts.
Canada Revenue Agency rules and regulationsIncome tax receipts are issued to donors who make gifts to charities. A gift is a transfer of property (usually cash), where the donor receives no benefit in return. The donor is the source of the gift and cannot designate someone else to receive the benefit.
Tax receipts are, however, issued to all participating artists for their contribution to the exhibit.
Because we believe in a cure for cancer.
Because we believe that awareness and education on the subject of cancer is important.
Because we want to celebrate life.
Because we want to honor cancer survivors and sufferers.
Because we want to recognize talent.
Because with your will, there is a way to all the above.
